Improving an existing web sites home page

This graphic design client asked if we could create an urgent home page update in time for the Christmas period. (Roll/hover over the image above to see 'before') While the pre-existing home page was an attractive design, as part of the exercise, the following aspects were also addressed:

The wide empty margin above the site masthead was narrowed to help the initial impression of the website.

The background was given a Christmas theme to help communicate the up to date nature of the web site and create a sense of extravagance in keeping with the season.

The image of the shop front was changed for a wintery one emphasizing the warm, bright lively and colourful welcoming interior of the premises.

The contact email and phone number were made clear and bold to reflect the organisations willingness to speak with it's customers.

A bright clear band was introduced to advertise that there were sale items available, as there were when the 'before' home page was in place.

Notes:

The Christmas season is now concluded and the current home page on the site has been done by others. This freelance designer has since helped improve the shopping cart pages. Other designs for this client
